Assessment & Development

As organisations select and/or grow their cadre of both internal and external coaches it is important to ensure that appropriate standards are maintained and that the individual approach is consistent and aligned with organisational needs.

Many of The School of Coaching’s clients now seek our support in running assessment and development centres to ensure cost effectiveness and organisational alignment. This is of value to the organisation and also valuable to the internal or external coaches as a result of the feedback process. The School of Coaching offers a six stage process to be used for selecting suitably qualified internal or external coaches:

Stage 1: Identification & pre-qualification
To identify internal and external coaches to engage them in a Coaching Assessment and Selection Programme and eliminate any Coaches who do not meet the minimum criteria (including essential qualification criteria).

Stage 2: Application
To register the interest of potential coaches and to identify those who will go forward to the Assessment Stages.

Stage 3: Assessment 1 Self-Assessment & Feedback
To form a view of the candidates performance as coaches against specific coaching skills and to collect references.

Stage 4: Assessment 2 Demonstration of Coaching
To provide further evidence of the candidates performance as coaches against specific skills.

Stage 5: Assessment 3 Interview
To provide further evidence of the candidates’ ability and professionalism as a coach against specific criteria (understanding of coaching; experience base; training and development).

Stage 6: Panel Review of Candidates
To bring all the information together and to make a final Assessment of each candidate for feedback to the client organisation and the individuals who have been assessed.
