Myles Downey

Myles Downey is the Founder of The School of Coaching. He is one of Europe's foremost business coaches and his extensive experience spans over 20 years. He coaches senior executives and leadership teams and develops coaching skills in line managers and professional coaches.

Myles was a part of the team that established The Alexander Corporation in 1987, which was acknowledged by The Economist Intelligence Unit as 'the leading provider of Executive Coaching in Europe' in 1993 and in 1995.

He is the author of ‘Effective Coaching’, now in its’ second edition with in excess of 25,000 copies sold. It is considered a seminal work on coaching. His other book ‘The Sessions’, concerning leadership performance, was written in 2010.

Myles coaches teams and individuals at CEO and Executive levels in The School’s clients, trains senior leaders in coaching skills and delivers on The School’s flagship Coach’s Programme. He is a regular speaker at conferences. Myles is one of the few trained ‘Inner Game’ coaches in the world (Gallwey’s work on The Inner Game has had significant influence on coaching and on performance at work).

He has worked all over the world in business sectors ranging from banking (retail and investment), professional service firms (law, management consulting), media and the public sector. Recent clients include Lloyds TSB, HSBC, Grupo Santander, BSkyB, a leading strategic management consultancy and the NHS.
